Where is Vieques?
Vieques part of the four island Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It is necessary to take a short flight or
the ferry to “La Isla Nena” as we affectionately call Vieques. It is not possible to drive to Vieques from
San Juan International Airport.
Transportation to Vieques
San Juan International Airport: The easiest way to get to Vieques is to fly from SJU to VQS. It is a scenic
30-minute flight. You can fly on Cape Air https://www.capeair.com/#/availability This is the most expensive option but is often the most stress free.
Make sure to leave plenty of time for connections.
Isla Grande Airport: This is a local’s tip! A quick 15-minute taxi ride (Approx. $20) from San Juan
International Airport. This is a small regional airport. 30-minute flight. You can fly on Vieques Airlink
http://www.viequesairlink.com.
Ceiba Airport: This small regional airport is located near the ferry terminal approximately 1 ½ hour drive
from San Juan International without traffic. This is a great option if you are overnighting on the main
island before flying to Vieques. It is a quick 10-minute flight with spectacular views. Vieques Airlink

The Ferry:
The ferry is $2.00 (subject to change) for passengers and a little extra for luggage. Tickets and schedules
are available online at www.puertoricoferry.com. The terminal is located about 1 hour and 30 minutes from San Juan depending on traffic.
If you choose to take the ferry, purchase your tickets on their website as soon as possible and arrive at the ferry
terminal no less than one hour before the sailing time. It tickets are not available for on-line purchase make sure you arrive 2 hours in
advance of departure to purchase tickets at the box office. Vehicle reservations on the cargo ferry are limited to residents of Vieques.
Should I rent a Jeep, Car or Golf Cart?
Yes. Some of the loveliest parts of Vieques are in remote locations and there is nothing better than
exploring when you are on holiday. We recommend booking before you arrive as sometimes there is
extremely limited availability. Please contact us for our recommendations.
Do you have parking?
Free parking is available on the street and in the parking lot across form Puertas.
Does Puertas Provide Airport Transfers?
No. It is a quick 15-minute trip by taxi from the Airport to Puertas. Please let us know your arrival and
departure times at the time of booking and we will arrange the Taxi service for you. The cost is about
$20.00 each way.
How far is the Beach?
Playa Esperanza is a two second walk out of our front gate. Sun Bay is a 20-minute walk.
Is the restaurant downstairs, El Quenepo, open during our stay?
Please visit their website at www.elquenepovieques.com to check their schedule and to make a
reservation.
Do you have Air-conditioning?
Yes. Each room has its own air-conditioning unit. If you prefer fresh air the windows and doors have
operable louvers and screens.
Do you allow pets?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate pet guests. Our resident Chocolate Labradors will be
happy to provide you with furry attention when you visit the office.
What time is Check-in and Check-out?
Regular check-in is from 3:00- 5:00 pm.
Late check-in is from 5:00- 9:00 pm and must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
Check-out is at 11:00 am.
We will happily provide luggage storage. You are welcome to enjoy our communal terrace before
check-in and after check-out until your departure.
Is breakfast included?
Yes. We will deliver a delicious breakfast basket to your room each morning.
Do you allow children?
We are unable to welcome guests under 18 years of age.
How early is coffee available?
Always. A French press, electric kettle, and freshly ground Puerto Rican coffee are available in your
room.
What are your front desk hours?
Front desk hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Emergency numbers are provided in the event you need to reach a manager.
Is smoking allowed?
Yes, in designated areas on the outdoor terrace. We never allow smoking of any kind in our
guestrooms. A $250 fee smoking fee applies.
How lively is the Malecón?
Please note on weekend nights and holidays there is the potential for loud music as you are in the heart
of the Malecón, within walking distance of the beach, bars, restaurants and shops. This is where the
visitors and locals come to have fun. If you prefer a quieter location, please book our lovely Casita

Do you provide beach chairs and coolers?
Yes. We provide one cooler per room and a chair for each guest for your enjoyment.
Do you have refrigerators in the rooms?
No.
Cancellation Policy:
If a booking is cancelled less than 30 days before arrival, then a charge equal to the full booking amount
will be made. If the booking is cancelled 30 or more days before arrival, then a charge equal to 50% of
the stay will be made. In the event of a no show or booking reduction (after arrival date) the full cost of
the booking is charged. Please note we are unable to change travel dates less than 30 days before
arrival.
We highly recommend purchasing an inexpensive travel insurance policy which will relieve your stress in
the event of a change to your travel plans.
